So I haven’t thrown out a question for a couple of weeks. I think it is fun to pose a question and see what people have to say. I always learn something and it seems to bring people together. My question today is about your Bucket list for your art, As in things you may have on your mind that you would like to achieve or experience. Anything from “I want one of my pieces to hang in the Louvre” to “I want to actually finish a piece.”
“Art,” by the way means YOUR art. It can be painting, beading, writing, gardening, cooking, teaching, designing - is the way you express yourself and create.
So here it is: Share one of the short term and one of the long term entries on your Art Bucket List: Put your answer in the comments and check back often!
Beth
One of my very numerous short-term goals is to attend a workshop of some kind - bookmaking or some other art weekend experience to learn and hang out with other artists. I've drooled over the Artfest web sites and similar ones but never had the resources to go to one. Now that my kids are grown, I hope to have a chance to get to one.
ReplyDeleteLong term, I'd be thrilled to have one of my pieces published in a book. Preferably not as a photo of "what not to do" haha! That is a ways out there, but it is a dream of mine.
I've got to remember this for my next book. I'd love to publish one of your pieces in it. In the meantime, submit to magazines!
DeleteThat is a great idea - Magazines. Will challenge myself. And thanks for the encouragement, all of your books are wonderful!
DeleteMy short term goal is to get moved into our new house, set up my craft room and get started! I have a list of things I would like to learn: knitting, crochet, soapmaking, and much more.
ReplyDeleteLong term, I would like to get back to sewing. I sewed many, many years ago and have an interest to rekindle that love. I would like to improve all of my crafting skills and perhaps get to a place where I could sell some things to support my craft and sewing indulgences. I would like to take classes offered locally also, and befriend other people of a similar mindset.
I would really love to share my loving of doing crafty things, sewing, beading, soapmaking, etc., with my daughter.
Cindy those are wonderful goals. You are going to have so much fun in your new house! You have lots of opportunities and classes right at your doorstep!

DeleteHi Beth ~ Very nice circular piece shown on this post... Is it a button pin? I decided to post my answer to your question here as well as on the BJP blog:
ReplyDeleteWow, I have to admit I've never thought of a bucket list for my art. Hmmm. Actually it's a serious question and deserves some thought. However, off the top of my head, the first three things that came into my mind were:
1. To have an Art Museum purchase one of my pieces for their permanent collection.
2. To have a one person show of my work
3. To have a show of BJP pieces by all/many members, possible at the International Quilt Festival.
Now, I'll read what others wrote and give it some thought...
Thanks for posing these questions. It does bring us together!
Robin A.
yes the pin is made on a button form. I love to make them!
DeleteI'm betting you will get the show and museum achievements, and show of BJP would be incredible!
My short term goal was to get a studio set up for all my arts and crafts, then it was to start making jewelry, and I've started that also! I'm having a blast with it. My long-term goal would be to actually take some advanced classes and sell some of it so that I can finance my new addiction!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I also started my own blog with some of the things I've made. I'd love to get some constructive comments if anyone would like to visit:

You are off to a flying start on your blog. keep up the good work!
DeleteI do not live with curtains in my home because I prefer light and glass and do not like curtains. Or blinds.
ReplyDeleteThe nice lady at 3rd Street Books would often mention to me that she liked driving by my house because she could see my large canvas paintings in progress. Neighborhood kids would often knock and ask if they could make paintings, too. We would talk more than we would paint together but we would do both. Especially in summer time when we could paint out on the lawn. And make an even bigger mess.
Ah. Technical facility. And the lack of it.
I have taken a break from making paintings on canvas these days and write and hike and travel a lot. But I have been painting enamel right on my windows and then scratching off imagery with chopsticks : and anything other than brushes. Forks are fun : hair pins. Etcetera. Light is magic through the glass etchings. All work is nonobjective and it makes me feel aligned, joyful.
My short term goal is the same as my long term goal.
Thank you for the forum, Beth.
