Blogging at the Speed of Life

Blogging: I have come to enjoy it, even though I’m still very much in the learning  phase, trying to share what I am up to and nurture a small community, encourage creativity as I create myself.  I’m in awe of the true bloggers, really, any kind of writer who can keep it all going no matter what they do or where they go.  I was just on a 10-day out of town trip and my poor blog was,  something I was not able to sustain.  The pre-departure tasks were daunting.  Then when visiting and taking a break from the normal routine it remained in the “will get to it” category.  Now I have been home for almost a week and I’m still crawling my way back to my usual routine.

One thing that makes me feel better about this is this book:

I shared a list of some of the ideas in this book on my facebook page before I realized that it was actually a book.  I made it a point to find it in Portland.  Its got a small format and is a very fast read, which can mean “novelty” book, but I have found it to be full of wisdom for anyone who is creative in any way (I hope that is all of us, or at least most of us!)  Things that reassure me about my blog being in the deep freeze are things like his advice to take a break, to go somewhere and get a new perspective.  It’s not only okay to be boring, but it’s the way to get work done.  In other words, the break was great, invigorating even, and it was (or will be) good to have made a change in the routine.

I’m behind on the BJP, still have not started March and here it is, April.  Of course, what I am doing is making journal covers.  Have I ever mentioned that I really like miniature books?  Form may marry function in this case.  I need to create a beaded piece for an auction that is this Friday – gulp.  I can use something I already made but I had something in mind and I’ll see if I can finish that in time.  Will post when I have it underway, just to get my “blog legs” back.  Then there is the gallery application that I seem to keep pushing forward.

Here is to getting back to it.  If you have read this book please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
